Join us for a viewing of a video biography of the early life of George Potter: the founding president of Ramapo College of New Jersey presented by Tom Heed, a retired history professor at Ramapo College. In interviews with Potter’s sister, Kathleen Potter Boardman, his son Ralph, his daughter Beth, his first wife, Margaret Potter Carlson and his second wife Laurie Potter we were able to build a rich portrayal of his early life and the salient moments in his development.
The video mainly covers his years prior to Ramapo and while it covers the opening of the college and some rich video interviews with founding faculty and administrators it ends with the first year of the college.
It is our plan to view the first 30 minutes, or so, and then open a discussion of viewers’ remembrances of George and then view the final 30 minutes and close with a general discussion of his years at Ramapo. The recording of this viewing and discussion will be deposited in the Ramapo College archives.
