This Day in History: 1967-02-09
Police Chief Edmund Wickham requested the Board of Education to devise a more suitable means of informing parents that school would not be in session because of the weather. He said that one morning the police had been called 61 times within a 30 minute period to ask about the school schedule. He feared that an emergency call would be impossible to make under those circumstances.
