W. E. Dennison, a resident of West Mahwah, drowned while swimming at Silver Lake in the Stag Hill section. He had been at the lake fishing with his brother when he attempted to swim ashore from an island in the middle of the lake and drowned before help could reach him. He only survived his wife by a few months as she had been killed in an auto accident in Suffern during the Spring. The Rev. George Mann of the A. M. E. Zion Church officiated at the funeral on July 7th. He was survived by three children, his parents Mr. and Mrs. John T. Dennison, and four brothers and three sisters. (Bristow)
