The Ford Assembly Plant went on to 10 hour shifts to meet the demand for the 1957 models. There are now 4.607 production workers at Ford compared to 2,585 just a year ago. All 15 Ford assembly plants have been placed on the maximum overtime permitted by the UAW contract – 30%. 1955 was the company’s best selling year. Employment is now 10% higher than it was at that time, nationwide. (Bristow)
