This Day in History: 1956-01-05

Byrd Avery led her team to victory in a rifle shooting contest with the Teaneck High School Squad.  Avery represented the Mahwah Rifle Club.  She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Avery of Mahwah.  She was rated as an expert rifleman by the National Rifle Association.  In a match she scored 181 out of a possible 100 points.
