This Day in History: 1951-05-27
Over 200 parishioners and friends gathered at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the ordination of their pastor, the Rev. Joseph Haluch. After a solemn High Mass celebrated by a number of distinguished prelates, a turkey dinner was served to the congregation. Julia Keri presented him with a silver basket of 25 American Beauty roses on behalf of the parochial school children. He also received a replica of the pillow he had received at his ordination at the New Rochelle Seminary from Betty Ann Doescher of the school. Father Haluch had served the Mahwah congregation for five years. (Bristow)
