This Day in History: 1949-11-17
A request from the Masonicus Fire Department for $826 to build an addition to the Masonicus Civic Association building to house the Fire Company’s two trucks was considered by the Township Committee. The Masonicus Company explained that they had no place for their trucks. They offered to donate all of the labor for building the addition. Reluctantly the Committee rejected the request. Since the Masonicus group was an independent Fire Company, no township funds could be expended for their benefit. They said that they had to make the same answer to a similar request from the Fardale Fire Department. (Bristow)
