Metropolitan Opera star Maria Markin, and radio sitarist John Hoyas were among the many stars of stage, radio and screen who appeared at the Russian Relief benefit at the estate of Dr. and Mrs. Virgil G. Damon on Viola Rd. in Suffern. Jimmie Sayo was the master of ceremonies in a show which featured a special appearance of Helen Hayes who gave a reading. She was Chairman of the event. (Bristow)
