This Day in History: 1934-08-30

Bridge was still the rage in Mahwah. Even in the heat of summer the weekly “Briefs” column reported seven bridge parties in town, three of them to benefit the benevolent fund of the Mahwah Woman’s Club. Considering the number of house guests reported here it is a fairly safe assumption that there were many more such parties not reported in the paper. (Bristow)
