This Day in History: 1934-08-16
The Township Committee received a petition requesting the establishment of a Catholic Cemetery on the grounds of the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Darlington. The original proposal had been received in June. A public hearing was held in July with a number of nearby property holders complaining that the new facility would lower their property values. As a result the request was laid over. The new petition was said to contain the signatures of 282 taxpayers and voters in the Township. No immediate response was given to the request. (Bristow)
