This Day in History: 1931-05-23

The committee in charge of the Saturday children’s matinees at the Lafayette Theater in Suffern decided to cancel the show so that the children could watch the great air circus. Between 500 to 600 airplanes were expected to pass over from west toward New York City during the late morning. (Bristow)
