This Day in History: 1929-01-08
The local post of the American Legion compilation of the wartime service of its members was nearly completed. Probably the most conspicuous service rendered was that of Frank Scherer who was cited for bravery in action when serving with the 27th Division. The Post was also compiling a list of local residents who served in nearby arsenals, although not actually in uniform. Many served under Major C. E. Ellis who was in charge of several of these facilities during the war. Among those who served in this way were: Guy M. Carleton, Raymond, F. Dator, Edwin C. Lane, Ralph Wilson Millard Cooper and Frank Schorr.
