This Day in History: 1927-01-18

The 400 acre Bear Swamp Property was sold to the Spring Valley Rod and Gun Club in a private sale.  The occasion was used to recall some of the facts and legends about the area including the role of the historic Cannonball Trail in resisting the British during the American Revolution and the origin of the mountain people who lived nearby.  One thing seemed certain the wonderful fishing in the area would now be restricted to club members.
