This Day in History: 1918-01-21
Stores were closed for a half day on orders from the Fuel Administration. There was some grumbling, but there is little that could be done about it. Many coal trains pass through but none stop at A. Winter’s siding. Mayor DeBaun of Ramsey has suggested that the trains would not stop for no reason at the grade crossings in Ramsey there if local residents would empty a few coal cars. Perhaps Mahwah should follow suit.
