This Day in History: 1916-07-05
The New York City Health Commissioner has warned NJ officials of the dangers of the present outbreak of infantile paralysis. The City authorities attempted to prevent any suspected cases from leaving the City, but this is almost impossible. Parents are warned to keep their children away from contact with anyone who might have the disease. They were warned against motion picture shows or other places where children congregate. If a child has a gastro-intestinal disturbance, the child should be isolated and seen by a physician. The annual Sunday School picnic of the Reformed Church was cancelled because of the epidemic.
