This Day in History: 1912-08-17
The Township has been offered a public park. The property belongs to Mr. Albert Winter and he has offered to sell it at a price below the market, and also to contribute $500 to help pay for improvements. It was seen by many as an improvement for the Town which might attract home buyers. There was some controversy about how it should be paid for, however. Some felt it would only benefit those living near the station. Those from Darlington and Masonicus would only see it once a year when they came to vote. However if more people buy homes this would reduce the rate for all tax payers, it was pointed out. (Bristow)
