This Day in History: 1911-08-13

Thomas Banta, a Civil War veteran, was buried in the Mahwah Cemetery. He served in Company B of the 22nd New Jersey Regiment. He had suffered from cancer for a number of years and had had several operations to attempt to relieve his condition. The Rev. E. Shafer preached the funeral sermon. (Bristow)
