The second Wednesday of the deer season saw many sportsmen out. Among those who were successful were Charles Mabie and James Devine of Mahwah. Each shot a buck weighing over 180 lbs. Contractor Charles S. McPeek transported them in his auto. Another large buck was shot near the Havermeyer Reserve, but the hunters did not get it. (Bristow)
