Theodore Havemeyer’s Mountainside Farm was reported to be shipping 8 to 10 cans of milk daily to Tuxedo Park. Pierre Lorrilard’a community had only begun to be occupied two years earlier. Tiring of the excesses of Newport RI, he had sold his “cottage” – The Breakers – to the Vanderbilts in 1885 and had set about creating a simpler suburban community in Tuxedo Park. (Bristow)
