This Day in History: 1875-07-23
David Decker, a conductor on the Erie Railroad, died at his home in Suffern. Nine train cars of mourners attended the funeral on the 26th. The ceremonies were supposed to be in Methodist Church but there were so many present that they moved to a nearby grove of trees, with the Methodist Pastor J. S. Hayes presiding. (Bristow)
