This Day in History: 1875-07-06

J. Valentine met with quite a serious accident on Wednesday evening while loading a crate of strawberries in the dark. His team started up suddenly while he was between the wagon and the train throwing him down. The crate landed on top of him bruising him so badly that he could not stand up easily for some time afterwards. (Bristow)
