This Day in History: 1874-09-15

John Doremus’s barn burned down to the ground in Masonicus while the family was in Paterson. He has lost all of his hay, wagons, harness and farm tools as well as a litter of seven young pigs. It is suspected that the fire was set by a tramp. (Bristow)
