This Day in History: 1874-08-18

Thirty workmen are constructing the cellar of Mr. Miller’s new house in Mahwah. It will be three stories high with a Mansard roof and will be 100 x 80′ in dimensions. When it is completed it will be one of the finest in the county. Since Mr. Miller likes to encourage local trades, most of the workers are from Ramsey. (Bristow)
