This Day in History: 1873-11-27
The congregation of the Ramapo Reformed Church gave a donation party for Reverend McGee. the refreshments were tasty and the guests had a wonderful time. $125.00 was raised as a gift for the Domine. Among those present were Miss Wanamaker, Miss Winter, Miss Ackermann and Mrs. Shuart. After the guests went home the pastor dozed off. He was awakened by his dog barking. Someone was trying to get through the window. By the time he went upstairs to get his pistol(the Bergen Democrat explained that he was not a Quaker) the intruder had fled. (Bristow)
