General George Washington ordered Colonel Jebediah and Colonel Tyler Huntington with two regiments of Connecticut troops (about 400 men) to take up positions at Sidman’s Bridge, now the hamlet of Ramapo, NY. They built a musketry line and a log barracks in that area to guard the Ramapo pass against British attacks. during the coming winter. (Bristow)
