Collection Details

Biographical / Historical Note: Charles H. Allen was a Mahwah resident and photographer.  He was the Mahwah Fire Department Photographer 1981- 1982 and was an honorary member of Mahwah Fire Company #1.  He served the township fire department, ambulance squads, and heavy rescue squad as an on scene photographer.  He submitted photographs of fire and rescue activities to news agencies – The Ridgewood News, The Mahwah Reporter, the Suburban News and The Record Newspaper.  He was a member of NJPPA (New Jersey Press Photographers Association.

Collection Description: This collection of photographs represents Charles Allen’s participation in, and experience with the activities within Mahwah Municipal community, the Mahwah and Suffern Fire Departments Co#1 and Co #4, the Rescue Squad, and submissions for press and competition in the New Jersey Press Photographers Association (NJPPA). 

Arrangement Description: The collection is arranged by topic and chronologically, also by condition of the photographs (mounted or not) and by size of photographs.
