This Day in History: 1888-07-10
Postmaster Henry Hagerman arranged for Mahwah mail to be picked up by train No. 6 at 2:25 PM daily. Prior to this time there had been only one mail pickup toward New York City a day. Andrew Hagerman had succeeded his father as Postmaster in 1881 and remained in the post except for brief periods until 1914. (Bristow)
