This Day in History: 1875-06-14
A tragedy was narrowly averted when George Berden’s horse bolted. The horse was pulling a cultivator when the horse blanket slid off his back, knocking the child who was on his back off onto the ground. Before anything could be done the frightened horse pulled the cultivator right over the fallen child. Fortunately he was not hurt in any way. (Bristow)
