This Day in History: 1937-06-06
The Holy Communion service at the Ramapo Reformed Church was the last official service presided over by Rev. William Simpson. He was taking an indefinite leave of absence from his fifteen-year pastorate because of ill health. The service was also the occasion of the induction of the congregation’s “new” officers. Elders Millard Cooper, David Hopper, and Albert Winter, and deacons Raymond F. Brainard, Norman H. Sherow, and Samuel C. White. Of these six men only White was new. He replaced William F. Furman who resigned because of his poor health prevented him from attending meetings. (Bristow)
