This Day in History: 1930-03-23
Chief Smith received a call from The Oakland Chief that George Smith, no relative who lived on the mountain was dying of pneumonia and would not call a doctor because he had no money. He called Harold Johnson, the welfare director who in turn called Dr. Meyers. The three of them went up to George Smith’s house. They decided that he was suffering from too much to drink. They returned at 11:05.
