1/15- Toxic Legacy Revisited
Toxic Legacy Revisited
with Dr. Chuck Stead
Monday, January 15th @ 7:30pm
A close look at the clean-up, remediation, and ecological restoration of the Torne Valley of Rockland County. Dr. Stead played a pivotal role in advocating for this Ford Motor Company remedial work in the watershed. During the clean-up of the wellfield and the riparian corridor of the Torne Brook, Dr. Stead remained on site, as it was his students’ work that brought the attention of New York State Dept. of Conservation back into the valley. The restoration in Torne Valley, NY is a template for the work that needs to be done in Ringwood, NJ, where Ford buried a great deal more of their toxic paint sludge.
Chuck Stead teaches at Ramapo College, has written a book about the cleanup called Get the Lead Out, and continues to advocate for recovery of our watersheds.
This is a hybrid event and will be presented in-person and virtually over Zoom.
