This Day in History: 1932-07-13
Mrs. R. N. Wanamaker of State Street treated herself to a day in the city. The highlight of the day was a performance of the musical comedy “Of Thee I Sing”. The play with music by George Gershwin and lyrics by his brother Ira to a book by Morris Ryskand and George S. Kaufman, was the first musical ever to win a Pulitzer Prize. (Bristow)
