The New Jersey State Court of Errors and Appeals turned down the project to dam the Ramapo River to provide water for Bayonne. The basis for the decision was errors in the process whereby the project was implemented. It is expected that before the application can be re-submitted, the State Legislature will pass a law preventing a single municipality from monopolizing a watershed which may be needed by a whole region. The suit was brought by property holders who would have had their lands flooded by the project. (Bristow)
