Charles Bechard of Mahwah was arrested as he got off the Erie train in Paterson. he admitted that he had stolen a watch and some money from a man in Mahwah. A description of Bechard had been wired ahead to police Chief Binson of Paterson from which he was able to recognize him instantly. The stolen objects have not been recovered. Bechard claimed that he had hidden them under a loose board in the Mahwah Station platform. A search failed to find such a board or the loot. He was taken to jail in Hackensack. (Bristow)
