A proposed ordinance over the signature of Township Clerk A. L. Clark gave notice of the intention to widen and straighten Franklin Turnpike from the residence of Peter G. Kemp (now the site of the Urban National Bank JWB) to that of James H. Carlough in Suffern. Some bends in the road are to be eliminated and the road widened to 50 feet. The ordinance comes up for a vote on September 19, 1908. (Bristow)
