George Berdan of Ramsey had an accident on the way to work. One of the boards fell out of the bottom of his wagon and he was thrown to the ground. According to the reporter from the Bergen County Democrat, “before he could realize his situation the horse was a full fifty yards away going at a 1:10 gait”. The horse finally stopped running after half a mile when he reached “the old homestead”. (Bristow)
