Archival Collections
The Mahwah Museum’s Archive began in 1965 with the formation of the Mahwah Historical Society. At its founding in 2001 the Museum was given the Historical Society’s collections. The collection contains archeological artifacts of the Leni Lenape, materials from the colonial times, the expansion of Mahwah from a farming community to an industrial town and finally a suburb. The Museum’s archive is ever growing as we attempt to document the many different people, places, and events that make up Mahwah’s unique story.
As new content comes in, we are continually sorting and organizing our collection and will make every effort to allow access to researchers. We are always looking for volunteers to help scan materials, organize collections, and conduct research.
