Biographical / Historical Note: Charles V. Bacon (1885-1973) was a chemical engineer who owned The Charles V. Bacon Co. in Jersey City, NJ. Bacon served as a Major in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War I, and a leader in the American Legion John Frome Post. He married Daisy A. Bisache and had a son, Charles, Jr. Bacon purchased 195 Airmount Road in 1914 and sold it ca. 1961.
Collection Description: Deeds, mortgages, correspondence and financial records documenting the history of 195 Airmount Road, purchased by Anna F. Clarke from Leo Bugg in 1913, then by Charles and Daisy Bacon in 1914. There are photographs of the exterior and interior of the house, taken in 2014 when the home was owned by Roger Ruefer. There is a folder of World War ephemera, related to Liberty loans and Bacon’s service and a folder of Mahwah ephemera including fire
