This Day in History: 1965-08-24
A large number of the members of the Mahwah congregation began to attend the district convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Yankee Stadium. According to August Russ, the presiding minister of the Mahwah group, 50,000 were expected to attend daily during the six day meeting. It was one of fifteen district meetings throughout the country. Russ said that the conference was to concentrate on the Bible. “The program is designed to show the Bible’s place in the modern home and how the Bible can contribute to family happiness”, he reported.
