Ground breaking ceremonies for the new Mahwah Junior-Senior High School were held at the Ridge Road site. Attending the ceremony were the architect, Warren G. Ashley, a representative of the major contractor, B.J. Lucarelli and members of the Good Schools Committee and others who were instrumental in achieving a high school for Mahwah. Wielding the shovel for the ground breaking was Klaus Fisher of the high school club and former officers of the club. Mayor Thomas J. Ackerman said that the Township was solidly behind the new school. School Board president Howard S. Avery also spoke. (Bristow)
