Contracts totaling $2,622,216 were awarded by the Mahwah School Board of Education for the construction of the new Junior-Senior High School on Ridge Road. Construction was to begin as soon as the various contractors posted performance bonds. The school was designed in the most modern style in a campus format and was scheduled to open in September 1958, although construction delays postponed the opening well into 1959. (Bristow)
