At the monthly Civilian Defense Council the need for a warning siren in the Valley Road area was discussed. It was resolved to ask the Township Committee for permission to install one at the Seminary property where it could be more clearly heard because of its central position.
Howard Avery reported on the activities of the radio amateur Civil Emergency Service, which he headed in Mahwah. He said there were ten key stations in zone 3. The operators keep in touch with each other evening Wednesday night. (Bristow)
