The continued growth of the Immaculate Conception School was marked at the annual commencement held at the Church in Darlington. Twenty-six diplomas were awarded under the direction of Rev. Lester A. Quinn. He announced that there were 184 students in the school. The classes ranged in size from eleven in grade 7 to thirty-six in grade 1. The 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades each had twenty-five. Except for John Lamoureaux in the 7th grade, and Francis Podgorski in the 2nd grade, the prizes for having the highest average in each grade were won by girls. The Sister Miriam Teresa award for scholastic excellence among the graduates went to another boy, Charles Sullivan. Rose Kulken was runner-up. (Bristow)
