This Day in History: 1947-06-17
At the Township Committee meeting it was announced that the request of two residents to have fire hydrants installed on Ridge Road had been denied. A letter from the Water Company President Mrs. Annie C. Winter stated that the current prices of fittings, pipes, and hydrants, all subject to at least a five month delay in delivery, was too high for there to be a reasonable prospect of profit from the installation. The matter had been brought up by Mrs. Carrie Morgan and Mrs. Harold Burton who had hoped to be able to reduce fire insurance premiums on their homes. (Bristow)
