Funeral services were held for William T. Morris, an eight grade teacher in School No. 2 (now Commodore Perry). At the School Board meeting the Supervising Principal asked the Board whether they wanted to replace him with a beginning teacher or were willing to pay more for an experienced one. The Board replied that they would pay $1,300 for an experienced teacher and $1,000 for an inexperienced one.
