This Day in History: 1936-01-15
The new section of Route 2 claimed another victim when David John Halon was struck and left seriously injured along the road. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital suffering from a fractured skull and internal injuries. He had been discharged that morning from the Roosevelt C.C.C. Camp and was apparently attempting to get home to Elhurst Long Island. (Route 2 is now Route 17).
