This Day in History: 1933-01-30
Mrs. Henry Mann was directing the work of a group of volunteer sewers at the A. M. E. Zion Church. They were assisting the Red Cross in making garments for those made destitute by the Depression. As of their last meeting they had made nine waists for boys , fifty slips for girls, ten bloomers, four underskirts for women, one nightgown for a baby and four pillow slips. The scraps were being made into a quilt.
