This Day in History: 1777-03-07
Nathaniel Sackett, of New Windsor, one of General Washingotn’s agents reported from Suffern’s Tavern that he had sent an spy through the American lines in the area of the English Neighborhood that evening with orders to set himself up in the poultry business in New York City so that he could travel back and forth once or twice a week with news of the British forces there. Unfortunately he had not heard anything from him and feared he was a double agent.
