Collection Details
Biographical / Historical Note: Charles Ackerson (1851-1943) lived in the Old Stone House in Ramsey, NJ for much of his life. There are a few photographs of him and a newspaper article from 1950. His daughter, Elizabeth Ackerson (1875-1975) married Frederick Conklin (1872-1947). There are photographs from the turn of the century, likely of their children. Two of their daughters were Velma S. Conklin (1905-1981) who married James J. Woodruff (1909-1976) in 1957, and Margaret Conklin (1902-1956)married John Lester Koman (1897-1976), parents of Richard L. Koman.
Collection Description: The collection includes Margaret Conklin’s diplomas from the Mahwah School and a program for the 1918 commencement, family photographs of Charles Ackerson, Fred and Elizabeth Conklin, some unidentified family members ca. 1900-1920. Newspaper clippings about Charles Ackerson, the Conklin’s 50th wedding anniversary, and an obituary of James J. Woodruff. There are two photographs of James J. Woodruff hooping messages on an Erie Railroad train, Woodruff’s photo ID, a set of Erie Railroad pencils, and railroad passes used by James and Velma Woodruff to ride Erie lines. There is also a photocopy of Frederick Conklin Jr.’s draft card from World War I.
