Mahwah Museum Office Assistant (Part-time)
$15 per hour, 10 hours per week on avg.
The Mahwah Museum seeks a responsible part-time employee to help with office tasks and publicity. The job responsibilities include general office duties (opening/directing mail, filing, checking/forwarding phone messages, keeping track of supplies), updating membership and mailing lists, using PastPerfect and Constant Contact, generating membership renewal letters and thank you letters, posting publicity materials at various news and social media sites, printing, labeling, and mailing bulk membership mailings and bookstore purchases.
The Office Assistant will consult with our Membership Chair, Publicity Chair, and President for guidance. Training in our systems will be provided. Hours are flexible and can be arranged to suit needs.
Candidates should possess good communications skills; office management or similar business skills is desired, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Facebook and other social media platforms. The Mahwah Museum is a 501©3 charity whose mission is to preserve and present the history of the community and its connection to the region. The Museum creates exhibits, offers a series of programs and events, and offers educational group tours. Its collection of artifacts, photographs, historical records, and documents are carefully preserved, documented, and cataloged and are available by appointment to historians and researchers. Funding for this position has been provided by a grant administered by the Bergen County Division of Historic & Cultural Affairs from funds granted by the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State.
